What a dork!

Today, while I was working, two things happened worth reporting-only because hopefully they will make you laugh!

Our folding tables at work are just the right height for our laundry carts to go under them, and that is where they are stored when they aren't in use. I got done with a cart this afternoon, and went to put it away, when for some reason it kicked back at me instead of going under the table. I didn't realize how much "umph" I put in to putting those carts away! I was so perplexed and surprised that I turned to my co-worker (who was laughing hysterically) and said, "How does that happen?!" This only made her laugh more, and then the rest of the day whenever something else happened that seemed even a little surprising, she would ask the same question! I think that is going to be the running joke in the laundry for a long time! (Oh, and by the way, I was laughing at myself too!)

A little later I went to instruct one of our volunteers in tie folding. This same co-worker was walking in front me, and stopped before I realized it, and I ran into her! Wow! This was one of those instances where she asked "How does that happen?!". Everyone that saw, including the volunteer, started laughing! Good times, good times! I was still in somewhat of daze when I tried to explian our method of folding ties to the volunteer, but she just smiled at me and tried hard not to laugh. Luckily another sister came and did some follow-up training, so I didn't mess things up too much! :)

After helping the volunteer, I went and related the following experiences to my co-worker:

A number of weeks ago, I saw a friend while I was walking down a hallway, and turned to greet her. I kept moving while we talked, until she got a strange look on her face that told me something was up...just in time for me to run into something. Or in this case, someone. I turned around to meet the belly of a man that I work with occasionally Saturday Mornings. I slowly looked up to see his face, which thankfully was smiling! I greeted him, and wished him a good day like nothing had happened. He chuckled, and then I was off. While I think by now he's forgotten that meeting, that day he didn't see me with out laughing.

During a High School soccer game, my coach put me in at forward. I was thrilled when my team got the ball, and I turned around to help with the breakaway play that was in motion. However, in the quickness of my turn and attention to the ball and my teammates, I failed to realize that there was a referee in my vicinity. And...you guessed it-I plowed right into him. While our collision didn't affect the referee at all, I ended up on the ground! :) The referee bent down to help me up, and laughing, told me that he could give me a red card for that, but he didn't think that I really meant to do it! He was right, of course. My team didn't score on that drive...but atleast I provided good comic relief for everyone who was there that day!

Well, as you can see, I am not exactly the most graceful person around. But I promise there's noone better to run in to! :)
