Walking on Water

The other day I was thinking about Peter, and his experience of walking on the water. Peter walked on water! And only when he took his eyes off the Savior and began to look at and see the darkness and tempest that surrounded him did he begin to sink. I think it's easy sometimes to be overwhelmed and begin to sink because of our circumstances. But I love that the Savior comes to him immediately and saves him.

The thing that I was thinking about the other day, was that after Christ came to Peter's aid, they wouldn't have just all of a sudden ended up on the boat again, but that together Christ and Peter would have walked safely on the water back to the boat. I thought of how often that is the way it is with us in our own lives. Christ does indeed come to our aid, and keeps us from sinking, but there are certain experiences we must go through that keep us from being "safely on board" right away. However, once we call out to the Savior, and invite His help, He is our companion to strengthen and steady us, give us courage and hope, and enables us to make it the rest of the way through our stormy seas.

These past couple weeks have been challenging, but I really have felt the sustaining power of the Lord, and know that He truly is there to succor us. I love Him, and am grateful for His love and goodness in my life.
