Something to Laugh About

There are two things that I think I enjoy doing more than any other things this world has to offer. The first is to laugh. Whether it's over movie quotes, blonde jokes, puns, or my own gullability, there is nothing that makes my heart so light, that makes my soul soar, that brings life to my soul and warmth to my heart like laughter! I have the privilege of working with some incredible women who make me laugh, every day, multiple times, sometimes almost incessantly. One of the remarkable things to me, is that I feel so good doing it...some people might wonder if it is really such a good idea to be laughing while I'm working, but I have felt very keenly at times that the Lord is happy to hear me laugh! And so I do it whenever I get the chance! :)

The other thing that I love to do is to talk about the gospel. To bear my testimony, to share my feelings and experiences, and to feel and express the Love of the Lord. Today I got to have a discussion with my roommate about hope and faith in Christ, and I remembered one of the scriptures that has really helped and been a blessing to me at different times of my life. When Christ was talking to Martha, when Lazarus had died, she said that if He had been there, her brother wouldn't have died. And then Christ tells her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live..." I think there are times in all of our lives when because of broken hearts, lost opportunities, or other difficult trials, that we feel as if a part of us has died. And like Martha, sometimes we feel that if the Lord had been there with us, we wouldn't have had to suffer. But just as Christ did with Lazarus, he can bring to life that which is dead in our lives and hearts, we can be renewed, refined, and more perfect. And through these difficult and trying experiences, and the miracle of life that follows, we, like Mary and Martha, can come away with the absolute assurance of the divinity Jesus Christ, His role as our Redeemer, and of His matchless power to save us and bring us home.
